June is Prideraiser month!
Celebrating goals is great, but celebrating goals with a good deed attached is even greater.
The Swanguardians are all about being inclusive. In addition to supporting the men and women that take the field in our team’s colours, we also welcome everyone in our area regardless of how they choose to express themselves.
Prideraiser is a coalition of independent soccer supporters that raise money for LGBTQ+ causes in their local communities every June. Fans make a pledge per goal scored by the Rovers during Pride Month. If the Rovers score 10 goals, and you pledge $5 per goal, your pledge-per-goal means you’ll donate $50 to the recipients of our choice.
Once again this year, we will be supporting Rainbow Refugee (rainbowrefugee.com). Rainbow Refugee promotes the safe transportation and the community building of people fleeing persecution due to sexual orientation, gender identity and expression and HIV.
Last year, our first year of doing Prideraiser, we managed to raise around $1400, exceeding our wildest hopes. This year we hope to better that. Thanks to a generous donor, our fundraising total will be doubled this year! As a result, we will be using Charitable Impact to collect all our donations before sending them to Rainbow Refugee. You will also instantly receive a tax receipt when you donate.
